Anotace knihy

I always figured I would see some kind of major shake up in my lifetime, but I used to think it would look big and loud, like fireworks and sirens and men yelling orders through bullhorns. Turns out it usually starts quiet. Real quiet. One day folks are posting pictures of their lunch online, and the next day they are whispering in parking lots, trying to figure out what is true, what is rumor, and who is paying attention. That is how it happens when the rules change.

When martial law rolls in, it does not always slam through the front door. Sometimes it slips in the side gate. A little restriction here, a checkpoint there, a list of things you suddenly need a permit for. Then comes the part where everyone is supposed to stay calm, listen, and not ask questions. That is the moment most folks freeze. They wait for someone to tell them what to do. That is the moment I do not want you to be in.

I have seen towns lock up before. I have seen curfews go from suggestion to command. I have watched neighbors who used to wave and share garden tomatoes turn into people who keep curtains closed and listen for footsteps at night. When the government says it is here to restore order, it usually means order on their terms, not yours. And once they have the authority to decide how you live, what you carry, when you move, and who you talk to, well, life does not look the same anymore.

This book is not about arguing whether martial law is good or bad. I am not here to debate. I am here to tell you how to keep your head when the ground shifts under your boots. I am here to talk about how to move when no one else wants to move, how to stay still when the loud ones demand action, and how to protect what matters without becoming the kind of person who forgets why they were protecting it in the first place.

You will not find theory here. You will not find pretty slogans or recycled advice. I am giving you what I have seen, what I have done, and what I have learned the hard way. If you are reading this, I figure you want the same thing I do: to be ready, to stay capable, and to not let anybody else decide who you are when everything gets tight and controlled.

When the rules change, most people panic. You are not most people.
