Anotace knihy

In the period between 4th of November 1999 and 10th of April2000 Cochabamba, Bolivia and its surrounding areas saw multipleprotests wanting to cancel the contract that the Boliviangovernment had signed with Aguas del Tunari. This contractencompassed the privatization of the municipal water and sewagecompany Servicio Municipal de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado and theMisicuni Project. The contract is often referred to as the MisicuniMultipurpose Project. This book is asking if there were otherunderlying factors affecting the protest or if the protest was onlyagainst the Misicuni Multipurpose Project. The book found severalfactors contributing to the protest. To reinforce these conceptualfactors the thesis is asking a second question, if there is apossibility to find knowledge about the social movements that wereinvolved and if we some how can differentiate between two idealtypes, old social movements and new social movements. Adapting thetheory of new social movements the book, mean to reinforce the ideaof multiple motivations for protest against the MisicuniMultipurpose Project.
