Blueland is a land far, far away where strange, often magical things happen. They appear strange and magical to us but for the people of Blueland these things are as natural as breathing or shaking hands.
Many different people and animals and creatures live in Blueland - giants and unicorns (and some say even fairies), the fearsome Hairboe warriors and Greenfin sharks as well as the friendly dolphins, whales and turtles. This is the story of one of those turtles, a very famous turtle indeed! Tommy Turtle, the wisest creature in the ocean.
Turtle Island is situated in the south of Blueland and is home to the giant-shelled turtles. This is where Tommy Turtle lives. He is 149 years old, which, even for a giant-shelled turtle, was very old indeed.
Tommy was a very special turtle. He was in fact known as 'The Wisest Creature in the Ocean'. This was a great honour and was a very special position on Turtle Island. It brought great respect from all the giant-shelled turtles and all the other smaller turtles and all the animals that swam in the ocean, even the whales, the dolphins and yes, even the fearsome 'Greenfin' shark.
This is Tommy's story of how, given his vast age, he must choose a successor and which of the three young turtles will inherit the title 'the wisest creature in the ocean.'
