The screen of Aris Thorne's primary terminal flickered with the low-frequency pulse of a standard deep-space survey. Instead, the readout displayed a sharp, jagged peak-a geometric spike that defied the natural entropy of stellar bodies.
He adjusted the gain on the spectral analyzer, expecting to find a calibration error or a processing glitch within the sensor array. He ran the filter again. The spike remained, and then, with terrifying precision, it repeated.
