What does it take to build a church that grows, and keeps growing, from one generation to the next?

Hidden in the book of Numbers is a chapter that answers that question. Numbers 27 opens with five sisters standing at the door of the tabernacle, asking for an inheritance no daughter had ever received. It closes with an aging Moses laying both hands on Joshua and commissioning him before all Israel. Between these two scenes, God reveals a complete pattern for raising a people and a leadership that advance His kingdom.

In The Inheritance Pattern, theologian and pastor Dr. Mishael Carson draws out five principles from this chapter:

• Bold advocacy opens new dimensions of inheritance. Make room for the overlooked, the young, and the spiritually hungry.
• Apostolic leadership listens to divine counsel, not personal bias. Learn to bring every hard decision before the Lord.
• Every generation must be empowered. Build discipleship systems that pass on identity, responsibility, anointing, and territory.
• Leadership succession is strategic, not sentimental. Choose leaders by calling, character, and capacity.
• Impartation, commissioning, and public affirmation release authority. Mobilise the whole body for service.

Drawing on the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, Dr. Carson explains key words such as nachalah (inheritance), qarab (to draw near), and samakh (to lay hands). He traces each principle through the whole of Scripture, from Ruth and Elisha to Timothy and the book of Acts, and applies it to the life of the local church.

Each chapter includes:

• word studies from the original languages
• practical steps for church growth
• questions for personal reflection and group discussion
• a closing prayer and a prophetic declaration

The book also includes a glossary of original-language terms and a sample order of service for commissioning ministers and volunteers.

The Inheritance Pattern is written for pastors, church leaders, Bible school students, small groups, and every believer who wants to find their place in God's purposes. It will help your church grow not only in numbers, but in depth, health, and kingdom influence.

Your name will not be forgotten. Your generation will not be left without a portion. Take your place in the pattern.
