What did the gospels left out of the Bible really say?

In 1945, farmers digging near Nag Hammadi in Egypt uncovered a sealed jar holding thirteen ancient books. Inside were gospels lost for more than 1,500 years: secret sayings of Jesus, a revelation given to Mary Magdalene, and writings the early church fought to reject. Decades later, the Gospel of Judas surfaced too.

Most books on these texts are either too academic to enjoy or too sensational to trust. This guide does something different: it lets you read the texts for yourself, and explains every step in plain English.

Inside you will discover:

• All 114 sayings of the Gospel of Thomas, freshly rendered in clear modern English, with commentary
• The complete surviving Gospel of Mary, and why Peter refused to listen to her
• Guided readings of the Gospels of Philip, Truth and Judas, and the Secret Book of John
• Side-by-side comparisons with the Bible on God, Jesus, salvation, the body and women
• The true story of how the Bible got four Gospels, and why the others were left out
• Who the Gnostics really were, and what they believed about creation and the soul
• Popular myths corrected: the Council of Nicaea, the "married Jesus," the "banned books"
• Recent discoveries and scholarly debates, explained without jargon
• A timeline, manuscript guide, glossary, who's who, and a table of Thomas-Bible parallels
• Discussion questions for book clubs and Bible study groups

Whether you are a curious Christian, a spiritual seeker, a student or a lover of ancient history, this book gives you the texts, the background and the context, so you can understand these ancient voices on their own terms.

Open the jar. Read the hidden gospels. Then decide for yourself.
