Anotace knihy
Two revolutions occurred in Israel in the last decade of the 20th century. The first was in the field of communications; the second was in politics. "Telepopulism" describes the political and cultural processes that took place in Israel during the 1990s, depicting the major political events of this period from a new, original and provocative angle, with a foundation of solid theoretical analyses. This book describes the political and media developments of the 1990s from an historical point of view and analyses the new, symbiotic construct that was created - mediapolitik. The book explores the ways that the media in Israel becomes multi-channel and commercial, and how the visual culture advanced by television takes the place of the written culture and the hegemony of the press. "Telepopulism" outlines the ways that Benjamin Netanyahu established a new "coalition of the rejected." Finally, this work shows the media influence that led to the crystallization of the six new tribes of modern Israel.
