Anotace knihy

This work aims to examine the structuralisms of Sigmund Freud, Claude Lévi-Strauss, and Jacques Lacan, and particularly the places of sexuality, sexual difference, masculinity, and femininity within them, in order to argue for the radical potential of each, from both sides of the sexual difference divide. Structuralism in general-and Lacanian psychoanalysis in particular-is, I'd like to argue, far queerer than we have found it, and this is important because it proffers a vocabulary for thinking-and living-queerly that is not beholden to the normative/anti-normative dichotomy. The project thus aims to retell the story of structuralism, in order to flesh out the political and ethical implications of a Lacanian-inflected structuralist account of the queer experience of being a sexed subject in the world.
