Anotace knihy

This book describes in detail various self ligating brackets; they are not new conceptually, having been pioneered in the 1930s. They have undergone a revival over the past 30 years with a variety of new appliances being developed. It is divided into main categories as active and passive, according to the mechanism in which they interact with the arch wire (encroaching on the slot lumen or not). Self ligating bracket systems were built on the philosophy of delivering light forces on a low- friction basis, thus ensuring more physiologic tooth movement and at balanced oral interplay. These systems have been gaining popularity in recent years with a host of claimed advantages over conventional appliance system relating to reduced overall treatment time, less associated subjective discomfort, promotion of periodontal health, superior torque expression, and more favourable arch- dimensional change.
