"Run and Gun" is an absorbing and energetically written military story about a young Professional baseball player who was drafted into the United States Marine Corps during World War II. This novelized version of his memoirs takes the reader through Boot camp, Marine Corps baseball, a love affair, oversea duty, and the "Battle of the Perimeter" on Bougainville in the Solomon Islands in March of 1944 and the invasion of the Philippine Islands in January of 1945. After the "Battle of the Perimeter" was over the various branches of the military organized baseball teams to play each other.The betting and fighting that took place during these games is priceless.
