Anotace knihy

As a virus is added to the water supply in many countries, at the hands of a warring country in the East, humanity falls to it, causing modern man to de-evolve into Neanderthal-like beings, called Neanders. Travis, being naturally immune, having nothing to do with any wars or public opinions, finds himself in an increasingly aggressive world where what were once people no longer have the ability to open a tin can. He stands alone, until he sees people trying to hunt a wolf for food. Saving the wolf, he builds a cautious friendship with the most unlikely creature. His desire to help survivors drives him further and further out into the world, as he indeed finds some, but are they friendly?

Loss, survival, true friendship, and even love become overwhelming emotions in a world out to kill him, as he seeks to find a cure, intending to fulfill a promise.
