The Peninsular War saw some of the bloodiest fighting of the Napoleonic Wars. Despite the exposure given to this theatre the soldiers who fought there have received little public recognition. As the bicentennial commemorations of this war draw to a climax in 2014, this magnificent book has been re-released in a revised edition including five new maps giving a comprehensive view of all the combatant's battles. The mapping by the author is of very high standard, and he has re-evaluated several battles in collaboration with Spanish authorities, and academics, and presents new interpretations of the sources.
