El ingreso del mundo en el siglo XXI está marcado por tres claves geopolíticas fundamentales: la construcción de Europa, la reemergencia de China y el relativo declive de Estados Unidos. Los vínculos de estas claves, su comunicación con una sociedad en profunda transformación y la urgencia de salvar el planeta marcarán la andadura del siglo. Este texto se centra en analizar las relaciones bilaterales entre la Unión Europea y China y la necesaria readaptación para encarar el futuro tras los cambios experimentados en las últimas décadas. El significativo despegue económico y tecnológico del gigante asiático, junto al empeño de su liderazgo en recobrar la posición central que China tuvo a lo largo del grueso de su historia ?lo que suscita temor en su vecindad e incomodidad en Occidente?, por una parte, y por otra, el cambio de paradigma de una UE a 27 y cuyo principal aliado no actúa como tal, fuerzan un giro en la forma de abordar unas relaciones que han tenido un desarrollo espectacular y suponen una contribución fundamental al multilateralismo y la estabilidad mundial.The world's entry into the 21st century is marked by three fundamental geopolitical keys: the construction of Europe, the re-emergence of China and the relative decline of the United States. The links of these geopolitical keys, their communication with a society in deep transformation and the urgency to save the planet will mark the path of the century. This text focuses on the analysis of the bilateral relations between the European Union and China and the necessary readjustment to face the future after the changes experienced in the last decades. The significant economic and technological take-off of the Asian giant, along with its leadership's commitment to regain the central position China has had throughout the bulk of its history ?which arouses fear in its vicinity and discomfort in the West?, on the one hand, and, on the other, the paradigm shift from an EU of 27 and whose main ally does not act as such, force a shift in the way of dealing with these relations that have had developed dramatically and represent a fundamental contribution to multilateralism and global stability.
