Anotace knihy

One of the challenges of modern manufacturing is the alignment of the machining capabilities with unpredictable market demands. Manufacturers call for adaptable systems allowing for deep changes. Modularity is one key technology and is increasingly implemented on every level of modern machine tool design. This thesis aims to take another step towards true reconfigurability of machine tools by investigating the modularization of machine tool frames with self-similar polyhedral building blocks.
