The convergence of the Internet and telecommunication§sector is finally happening. Currently end users§expect entertainment applications and services to be§available on their mobile phone. This applies§especially to games, videos, and music sold via§so-called value added data services. They are used§nowadays to increase revenue in addition to the voice§services and made a major change to the whole§telecommunication market. That is why one may find§more complex business models as a result of an§increased number of key players, in comparison to the§established voice services. The author Bernhard Beck§analyses the mobile entertainment business (MEB) in§Europe regarding key players and business models, as§well as the distribution of asset types. Furthermore§he talks to key players of the MEB regarding§state-of-the-art and future development of this§business. The analysis highlights that the mobile§entertainment business is complex and not yet a§mature industry. §This paper is of use for every key player being part§of the European MEB at the moment and for every§company who is interested in taking part in this§business and wants to get an overview of the current§market situation.
