Der Band enthält Beiträge des ersten Symposiums der Veranstaltungsreihe Europe Beyond the Union, das im Oktober 1999 in Berlin stattfand. Ausgangspunkt der gesamten Reihe ist die institutionelle Trichotomie in Europa. Neben den Mitgliedstaaten der EU gibt es Beitrittskandidaten mit einer konkreten Mitgliedsperspektive und jene Staaten, denen die EU in absehbarer Zeit nicht zur Mitgliedschaft offen stehen wird. Europe Beyond the Union hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, diese Dreiteilung aus juristischer Sicht zu analysieren. Die deutsch- und englischsprachigen Beiträge in diesem Band widmen sich den wirtschaftsrechtlichen Beziehungen innerhalb und jenseits der Europäischen Union. Den Schwerpunkt des Bandes bilden Beiträge, die die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen einer Investition untersuchen. Hierbei wird besonderes Augenmerk auf die Regelungen des Gesellschaftsrechts gelegt. The volume documents the results of the first symposion of the series of conferences called Europe Beyond the Union. The series deals with main aspects of the division into three categories of European countries. Besides the Member States of the European Union, there are candidate states with a close perspective and those with an unclear perspective to accede to the European Union. Europe Beyond the Union is devoted to the legal issues of this trichotomy. The German and English contributions to this volume work on different issues regarding commercial law within and beyond the European Union. They focus mainly on the legal conditions of investment, especially on company law.
