Introduction to Hexagon - Unifying Zoology, Botany, Astronomy, Politics, Economics, and Psychology
This book is a theoretical work exploring cross-disciplinary structural relationships.
Modern science continues to deepen our understanding of the world through increasing specialization. But as knowledge becomes richer, a larger question also emerges: How, exactly, are different disciplines connected?
This book begins with the "Triangular Core," also called the "Triangular Stability Window," formed by Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Using Point •, Line|, and Circle Ο as three basic structural symbols, it further expands into the six major domains of Animals, Plants, Celestial Systems, Politics, Economics, and Psychology, also called the "Hexagonal Stability Window," forming a nine-discipline structural system of: 3 + 6 = 9
Through questions involving life evolution, plant growth, celestial organization, political order, economic cycles, personality, and consciousness, together with the research of representative specialists in different fields, the author attempts to identify common structural relationships hidden behind different mechanisms: Generation, Constraint, Connection, Organization, Feedback, Stability, Instability, and Regeneration.
Hexagon does not claim that different disciplines share the same mechanisms. Instead, it raises a more fundamental question: When specialized names and objects of study are temporarily removed, do structural relationships remain across different sciences that can be mapped onto one another?
From local generation to overall closure, and from overall closure to a new starting point, Hexagon attempts to establish a structural map connecting nature, life, society, and consciousness, and to provide a new way of seeing the relationships among dispersed bodies of knowledge.
Highly specialized single-discipline research has enabled humanity to understand the world in ever greater depth. But as the scale of understanding expands further, the question facing civilization will no longer be only "What does one discipline know?" but "How are different disciplines connected?" This way of understanding-from the local to the whole-is like moving from individual stellar systems toward the Milky Way as a whole. We explore the integrative capacity of galactic civilization.
