Two young smugglers find themselves stranded in Kathmandu, Nepal, when a hashish deal goes awry. One decides he can hitchhike thousands of miles overland back to civilization, with eight pounds of pure hashish strapped to his body. The journey will require weeks of travel and passage through some of the most dangerous border crossings in the world.The other immerses himself in the exciting world of the Kathmandu underground with a slew of expatriates caught up in the heyday of the late nineteen sixties.

As this essentially true story unfolds, their invention of liquified hashish and new international smuggling possibilities are unveiled. When the two friends reunite in Toronto, Canada, they convince themselves and a small circle of new compatriots that if they play their cards right, they just might be able to change the world and line their own pockets at the same time.

Author Robert "Blu" Jones came of age on the road, traveling to Kathmandu at a time when the world felt wide open and full of possibility. Living in Nepal in the early 1970s, he immersed himself in Buddhist philosophy, studied under several teachers, and quietly mastered the art of making hashish oil - driven by an idealistic belief that the West needed awakening.
