Anotace knihy
These papers covered theoretical, case study and ethical aspects of archaeology's sometimes difficult relationship with economic development as it is manifested through tourism, urban development and natural resource exploitation. The contributors present a dialog on the most critical issues facing archaeology as it interacts with economic development projects and business enterprises and hope to address the question of how archaeologists should interact with industrial and infrastructure projects. §§The case studies present particular heritage- or archaeology-related projects that have had economic development implications, or discuss in overview terms the situations in particular countries relating to government policies, private sector activities and archaeological activity. With contemplated introductory and concluding chapters by the editors, this volume will present a coherent introduction to the issues and the shortcomings in archaeological research and practice.§§
