In 1940, Jean Shapland is evacuated from her home in London as the bombing starts and finds herself growing up in the West Country. This story of love and betrayal, set in Cornwall, South Africa, and America, follows her family through many twists and turns as they seek to find their own Rainbow's End. Pamela Le Bailly spent the last years of the War in the W.R.N.S. and then became a navy wife. She followed her husband to South Africa and America, producing three daughters along the way. Back in England, an avid gardener, she also became interested in the art of pressing flowers and growing her own materials, which became a way of life for forty years. Pamela sold her work widely, including to many Japanese, who visited her garden in Cornwall. Her increasing physical disability meant giving up gardening, leading her to write a book on pressed flowers, and then two cookbooks. Chasing Rainbows is a story that rolled around in her head for some years.
