CBCT provides a definite advantage over other techniques due to its low radiation dose to patient, smaller equipment and ability to provide multiplanar reformation and 3D images. CBCT has emerged as an ideal alternative because of the lower cost compared to multislice CT for the examination of TMJ, although it may be more sensitive to motion artifacts.
