Anotace knihy

During the summer of 1982, as part of a large-scale military operation aimed at pushing armed Palestinian groups away from Israel's northern border, Israeli forces entered southern Lebanon. During this campaign, a massive detention camp known as Ansar was established to hold detainees captured in the conflict zones.
Tension, anxiety, danger and uncertainty permeated every day and night at the Ansar prison camp. These emotions are vividly recounted by those who lived through it - on both sides of the fence. Originally constructed in haste as a temporary holding facility, it ultimately remained in operation for three years.
A Thin White Line presents a broad spectrum of firsthand testimonies from IDF soldiers, mid-rank officers and senior commanders who served at the camp, while also offering rare and authentic insights from Palestinian detainees who were held there.
The book also unveils the story of Ansarit - a detention facility secretly established within an IDF base near the city of Nabatieh, in southern Lebanon. It sheds light on the experiences of both the military policewomen who operated the facility and the female detainees who were imprisoned there.
Alongside these testimonies, readers will find fascinating archival materials such as documents, never-before-seen photographs, and contemporary press coverage from the era.
A Thin White Line is a fascinating exploration of an often-overlooked chapter in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Framed by the setting of an Israeli POW camp located in enemy territory, it explores the thin, fragile line that separates detainee from guard - and the deeper question of what it means to remain human in such a place.
This is the personal journey of Dotan Nave, a documentary filmmaker and researcher who has spent years uncovering the hidden memories and stories of those who were part of Ansar.
Dotan Nave was born in 1978 and grew up in Kibbutz Lehavot Haviva, in northern Israel. Since 2006 he has worked in research, development and production for films and television programs, specializing in content creation. Nave holds a bachelor's degree in film and television from Sapir College, and teaches Media and Film Studies in high schools. A Thin White Line is his first book.
