Anotace knihy

Purposely written to appeal to a wide-ranging audience, this fresh, multilayered, uniquely entertaining version of The Odyssey is intended for readers from 10 to 100+ years old...

Reluctantly sailing to Troy with his fleet of twelve ships, Odysseus of Ithaca endures ten years of war. But when he finally helps to bring the conflict to an end through the devious use of the infamous Wooden Horse, he has no way of knowing that his battle to get safely home again is only just beginning. The support of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, will not be enough: he must depend upon his own resourcefulness - or die.

Composed in accessible, fast-paced, iambic tetrameter rhyming verse, The Epic Odyssey retells Homer's epic tale of daring deceptions, dreadful disasters and formidable females. From man-eating monsters to perilous storms, enchanting goddesses to savage battles, each of Odysseus' epically exciting experiences is recounted in a way that is not only faithful to the details found in Homer's iconic, foundational text, but also reflective of the author's own, highly original narrative style.

Readers coming to the story of Odysseus for the first time will find The Epic Odyssey an extremely engaging introduction, while those already familiar with it will enjoy revisiting its famous, much-loved episodes in a way that they will never have done before...
