Anotace knihy

The year is 5616. A new glacial epoch grips Earth. In the City-State of Alta, the elites of the Clave hoard the wealth-and life extension technology, the Dranar. They say their longevity gives them the wisdom to run things. They say there's no need to go to war.

Mith, former resistance fighter, says she's given up violence. She will use peaceful means to reform the Clave. She doesn't want a war.

Rill, trying to negotiate a peaceful path to Universal Dranar, finds herself slipping into activism, but she doesn't want war.

Tobo, young and reckless, uncovers that the Clave are capturing resistance members and forcing them into illegal brain envelopments, creating worker slaves while imprisoning the original personality in a body it no longer controls. He's furious, and launches a risky project to rescue victims and remove their envelopment. He doesn't want war. 

The average citizens of Alta say they don't really want the Dranar. Easy for them to say-they have no chance anyway. They don't want war either, also easy to say-they are required to take an implant that prevents them from committing violence.

And when Ghazi, leading a mission from distant Minab, sails into Alta harbor with his crew of 'explorers', all he wants is to learn the Dranar treatment and return home with the knowledge. Surely the Clave will share. Ghazi doesn't want war either.

But somehow Ghazi's arrival is the spark that ignites the war no one wants-The Dranar War.

In The Dranar War, peace-loving people must learn to defend themselves-and grapple with their choices. Ancient weapons confront future armaments. Medical technology can place two beings in one body. A western government lurches toward theocracy as a means of control, while an Eastern society abandons the church-controlled state. A brain implant replaces the cellphone. Extending lifespan leads to challenging consequences for human society.

The Dranar War will appeal to readers of the genre Hopeful Dystopia: Ministry of the Future, The Great Transition, Walkaway, and Station 11.
