As young boys, they both spend many a summer enjoying magical holidays on Llandudno's West shore in North Wales. Together with wooden swords, fighting off invisible enemies, black knights on the vast, deserted beach. Come their teenage years, the boys grow apart. Because of his love of animals, Ali trains to be a vet, whilst Alan joins the army serving in Bosnia. Years later, whilst home on leave Alan meets up once more with Ali. On of all days, Tuesday 11th September 2001. Alan and Ali argue over different opinions regarding the attacks on New York. They again go separate ways, only for their paths to cross during frightening circumstances in Afghanistan. Where Ali is fighting for the Taliban and Alan serving as a British soldier. This dramatic and tragic story reaches a crescendo in a place where it all began. West Shore. Their short lives ripped apart by war and religion, they find themselves surrounded by real dark knights.
