Many naturally occurring biopolymers have unique structures§and unique physical or mechanical properties. The understan-§ding of the moleclar basisof these biomolecules, their syn-§thesis, assembly and processing is a prerequisit for any ap-§plication to the design of novel biomolecular materials.
