This conceptual paper shows a compilation and analysis of the information on the social determinants of health with the purpose of bringing the theoretical elements that make up its knowledge base closer to students and professionals of the health sciences, to governmental health entities and to the population in general, due to its irrefutable influence on the health of populations.
