This book analyzes the creation of public value in smart cities and the role of governments in this process. Building on research into the creation of smart cities, this volume furthers the discussion by examining the use of smart technologies as a way to solve common issues and problems in public administration and highlighting some of the most important organizational challenges facing their implementation within the smart cities framework. The book is divided into four parts. Part I of the book creates a comprehensive concept of public value in smart cities through comparative analysis of different theoretical and empirical approaches.
