These national guidelines from the Church of England are designed to inform, direct and equip those working in churches at a local level about domestic abuse. They are designed not only for those working in authorised ministries, such as clergy, readers or pastoral assistants, but also for those who may be entrusted by victims, survivors or perpetrators to hear their stories and who want to offer the most appropriate care. The guidelines contain: An introduction to the issue of domestic abuse Guidelines for those with pastoral responsibilities Suggestions of policies for action at both parish and diocesan level Appendices containing information on law and the needs of particular groups, areas in which the Church needs to examine its way of working, such as theology and marriage preparation, resources and stories. This document has been commended by the Archbishops' Council as part of the Church's commitment to victims of domestic abuse and to address the circumstances that lead to domestic abuse.
