Anotace knihy

Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) is a newcomer in the field§of superconductors.§It offers an easily attainable usage temperature§around 20 K with cheap wire cost. However, the wires§employ different matrix materials than superconductor§engineers are used to use. These, in principle,§result in reduced stability. Also, ferromagnetic§components may be included, which causes§peculiarities in the modelling of coil critical§current. This book considers stability issues of MgB2§superconductors, while also discussing on the§computation of coil critical current when a wire§includes ferromagnetic matrix. A detailed outline is§also given in the background of the book;§electromagnetism, thermodynamics and§superconductivity are discussed in a reasonable§extent. Then, stability models, as well as a variety§of measurement results, are presented and discussed§in detail. This book gives an outstanding opportunity§to familiarise oneself with the stability of§superconductors and especially for modelling the§related phenomena.
