Anotace knihy

This is the history and adventures of the Rainwater and Peabody families; both comfortable, wealthy, sure of themselves and leaders of their time. Each respected the other until the Peabody's beautiful daughter, Sara, fell in love with the handsome half-Indian Jeremiah Rainwater. Their struggles are played out from Virginia and the Carolinas to the Arkansaw Territory. The timing, set before the Civil War, deals with many changes in this country and Jeremiah's quest to establish a legacy for his young son, William. The changes manifest themselves in lawlessness, murder, grief, new birth and love as seen through the eyes of a father and son as they experience all the emotions involved while traveling over the white man's "Trail of Tears."
