Paulo lived above them all, behind parapet-topped walls in an ancient palace, yet remained a lone slave in a society of masters.

To protect the villagers from Paulo's freakish deficiency, his inability to communicate telepathically, he was locked away deep below ground by the High Leader, the Apogee. Alone in the palace to serve the reclusive leader, he learned obedience begot lenience and was allowed more freedoms about the grounds. 

Still, ostracized by society in most every way and with no hope of a better future, he could not contain his self-loathing and hatred. Desperate to choose his own path, he overthrew his master at knifepoint and locked him far below ground in the dungeon to limit his power of mental projection. 

Paulo stood between the Apogee and his subjects. He alone would control all information the villagers received from their leader. The only person on this planet that couldn't hear their thoughts, perhaps he should've had a better plan.

Turn OfF the noise, the interference, the technology that has usurped our lives, and step into a land of waterwheels, horse drawn carriages, real magic, murder and surprise.
