The book addresses three interconnected questions: §How could a satisfactory account to the modern §predicament about the role of communities and §individuals in human flourishing better be §formulated? How do the most influential contemporary §approaches to moral education address the modern §predicament? What are the conditions imposed on §moral education approaches from the perspective of a §satisfactory answer to the modern predicament?§The book advocates a dynamic understanding of the §predicament that conceives it as the result of §conflicting goods that are all important for human §flourishing. Thus, the work argues that although the §most influential approaches to moral education today §(Values Clarification, Character Education, §Kohlberg's and Caring) suppose a stance §over the modern predicament, their answers are §unsatisfactory in a problematic way.
