The name literally translates as "free fighting," and dates back from the 1930s, developing since then into a serious, yet theatrical, sport whose players are known as "Luchadores." The larger than life persona of each Luchadore is a combination of athleticism, theatrics, passion, and personality. British photographer Malcolm Venville highlights both the graphic quality of the Luchadore's stage persona and costumes, as well as the underlying humanity of the individual wrestler.
