According to the Holy Scriptures, Abraham had a son with Sara, Isaac, who became the progenitor of the Jewish tribes, and a son with Hagar, Ishmael, who became the progenitor of the Arab tribes. The French baroque painter Claude Lorrain devoted himself to this subject repeatedly, and Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz follows his "conceived picture" by setting three musical scenes in delicate soundscapes.
