Anotace knihy

Hapkido: Basic Techniques-Book 2, Part 2 continues Grandmaster Daniel Pinkowski's beginner-oriented journey into the practical skills and principles of traditional Hapkido.

This volume introduces students to fundamental kicking methods, including proper balance, chambering, supporting-foot position, extension, retraction, breathing, safe kicking height, and returning immediately to a defensive stance. Students are guided through essential kicks such as the front heel kick, push kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, back kick, hook kick, scoop kick, circular kick, knife-edge kick, and knee strike.

The book then explores escapes from common grabs, including same-side, cross-wrist, two-hand, sleeve, shoulder, lapel, and rear-wrist grabs. Readers learn how posture, movement, grip weaknesses, personal-space awareness, and proper footwork can help create a safe escape.

Beginning joint-control principles are presented progressively, covering wrist turns, inside and outside wrist locks, wrist compression, circular wrist control, elbow presses, straight-arm controls, bent-arm controls, hammerlocks, standing arm controls, and safe guiding positions. Strong emphasis is placed on gradual pressure, tapping procedures, partner communication, immediate release, and protection of the wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

Students also learn how to recognize an opponent's base, use pushing and pulling reactions, create forward, backward, side, and circular balance disruptions, and replace upper-body strength with timing, angle, and footwork.

The final sections introduce the foundations of throws and takedowns, including leg sweeps, hip throws, shoulder throws, forward wrist throws, circular takedowns, and safely following a partner to the ground. Each technique is supported by safety responsibilities for both the thrower and receiver, proper gripping, controlled descent, falling preparation, and progressive partner drills.

Written for beginners and developing Hapkido students, this book places safety, control, respect, and responsible practice at the center of every lesson. Detailed explanations and instructional illustrations help readers understand not only what each technique looks like, but also the principles that make it effective.

Drawing upon more than sixty years of martial arts experience, Grandmaster Daniel Pinkowski presents Hapkido as a complete system of self-defense, physical development, discipline, and personal growth.

All techniques should be practiced progressively on an appropriate training surface and under the direct supervision of a qualified Hapkido instructor.
