Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott is a satirical novella that explores the nature of dimensions and social hierarchy. Squares and Circles are the elite, while Women are mere straight lines.

When A Square dreams of visiting Lineland (a one-dimensional world) and later encounters a Sphere from Spaceland (a three-dimensional world), he begins to grasp the existence of higher dimensions beyond his own. However, when he tries to share this revelation, he is ridiculed and imprisoned.

The book cleverly blends mathematics, philosophy, and social satire, criticizing the rigid class systems and closed-mindedness of Victorian society while inviting readers to imagine realities beyond their own perception.
