Ausgehend von den Unfallaufnahmen einer Dashcam erörtert der Bild-Text-Essay die Frage, wie ein Unfall - oder eine Krise - in einer von Risikovorsorge und finanztechnischer Absicherung geprägten Zeit lesbar wird. Während die Dashcam ursprünglich nur Zeugnis von den Unfällen eines bestimmten Autos ablegen sollte, hat die enorme Verbreitung derartiger Bilder im Internet unbeabsichtigt ein allumfassendes Unfallregister hervorgebracht. Von hier spannt Ho Rui An den Bogen zum "horizon scanning", dem die Überwachungstätigkeit der Regierung von Singapur folgt. Der Stadtstaat erscheint als Knotenpunkt der elektronischen Kreisläufe globaler Geldströme wie der Schicksale politisch rechtloser Arbeitsmigrant*innen. By probing what it means to move on from the accident, the essay unravels the broader logic of "horizon scanning" that underpins the foresight programs of the Singapore government. As a crucial node along the electronic circuits of global finance as well as the sweaty regional routes crossed by disenfranchised migrant labor, Singapore is held up as a privileged site to attend to the disturbances or "weak signals" that crop up on the horizon to develop a fantastic speculative economy.
