Anotace knihy

There are places we leave behind, people we carry with us, and moments that remain long after the years have passed.

In Borderlands, Kevin McManus brings together a collection of poetry, short stories and personal reflections exploring the quiet beauty of ordinary life, the passing of the seasons, and the enduring pull of memory.

Rooted in the landscapes, villages and backroads of rural Ireland, these writings wander through childhood Christmases, autumn evenings, forgotten traditions, family memories and the changing rhythms of the Irish countryside. There are moments of warmth and humour, of nostalgia and wonder, but also reflections on grief, loss, ageing and the inevitable passage of time.

From the first frost of winter to the returning light of spring, from the magic of Christmas morning to the mysterious stillness of Samhain, Borderlands explores those places where past and present meet, where memory becomes almost tangible, and where the ordinary can suddenly seem extraordinary.

Tender, atmospheric and deeply evocative, Borderlands is a celebration of the small moments that shape our lives, the people who make us who we are, and the places that never quite leave us.

A book to be savoured slowly, perhaps beside an open fire on a quiet evening, when the world outside has grown still.

I will meet you where the earth
meets the heavens,
the sand meets the water,
the dark meets the light.
On the edge of something
and nothing.

Spirit and balance,
time and tide
drift across the borderlands.
