Anotace knihy
This book presents radically different perspectives on the Jharkhand Andolan.
(i) When communist socialism was infused with the 'Hor-Mitan' multicultural ethos of Mulbashi and Adivashi traditions, the resulting synthesis became the ideological foundation for the creation of the Jharkhand state. Binod Bihari Mahto and A. K. Roy played a decisive role in shaping this ideological framework, which was acceptable across all sections of Jharkhandi society.
(ii) The exclusion of the Kurmi-Mahto community from the Scheduled Tribes list in 1950 is the reason for the 44-year delay in the formation of the Jharkhand state, and also resulted in the merger of Purulia sub-division with West Bengal.
(iii) Did Mazrul Hasan Khan established a Shantiniketan-style open school in the Gola-Chitarpur area to train a band of revolutionaries who played a pivotal role in the creation of the Jharkhand state?
(iv) How three brothers from the same family-Maya Ram Mahto, Kunwar Mahto and Mahesh Mahto-were martyred during the anti-Mahajan Andolan.
