Anotace knihy

With the recent globalization movement and decline §in foreign student enrollment in universities in §developed countries like the U.S., universities are §looking for ways to bring education to the student §rather than waiting for students to come for §education. Therefore, opening a branch campus abroad §and bringing education to the student became an §alternative for U.S. universities to bringing §students to their campuses. There are many §challenges in teaching at such a campus and §administering such a campus. Of course, there are §exceptions, and those exceptions are trying to §provide as high quality education as they can, given §the lack of English language skills of Chinese §students, financial considerations when paying the §Chinese staff and U.S. teachers, and sociocultural §issues when dealing with staff members, Chinese §partners, and students. However, with the number of §such programs increasing in China, such joint §ventures need to re-evaluate their programs. This §book explains how American the American §education is in China and offers recommendations §regarding the future of such joint ventures.
