Anotace knihy

An Adventure is a compelling account by Eleanor Jourdain and Charlotte Anne Moberly, detailing their purported experience of time slip or time travel during a visit to the Petit Trianon in Versailles. Published in 1911, the book chronicles their unusual and mystifying encounter in 1901, where they claim to have stumbled upon the late 18th-century period of Marie Antoinette's life while touring the gardens of the château. The narrative is carefully constructed from detailed notes both women took immediately following the incident, providing an intricate and descriptive report of their experience.

In their account, Jourdain and Moberly describe seeing buildings, landscapes, and people dressed in period attire, all of which reportedly vanished when they revisited the site later. Their descriptions of the figures they encountered, the sudden shifts in the environment, and the feelings of oppression and dreariness lend an eerie credibility to their tale. The authors delve into possible explanations for their experience, ranging from psychic phenomena to time anomalies, with a rigorous analysis that has intrigued readers and scholars alike. "An Adventure" stands as a fascinating, if controversial, study in the annals of paranormal literature and remains a topic of debate and fascination for its firsthand portrayal of a temporal anomaly.
