French clover or Sainfoin is a hardy, drouth resistant clover at high altitudes. The winter grains are especially favorable for dry farming, because the summer fallow method properly prepares the ground, and the spring rains are sufficient to mature the crop. Winter rye is not appreciated as it should be, for it is one of the best feeds for hogs which can be produced.
