Published to accompany an exhibition at the Berlin National Gallery, this richly illustrated book reflects on contemporary Africa and its cultural landscape through the lens of colonial history, using literary and scientific texts and essays. A series of essays questions the Western view of Africa, and explores how African history is told and interpreted today. Additionally, five internationally respected artists of African origin El Anatsui, Zarina Bhimji, Antonio Ole,Yinka Shonibare and Pascale Marthine Tayou engage in a dialogue about their project at the Berlin National Gallery.
