The influence of accountability on managers feltresponsibility was studied. The hypotheses testedwere that accountability to various audiences suchas the Principal, work peers and the general publicinfluence the managers feltresponsibility. Felt responsibility was defined asthe cognitive and affective responsibility felt by amanager for a decision that implies a dilemma. Across cultural hypothesis was also tested. Theinterdependnet self construal of managers wasproposed as a moderating variable for therelationship beetween accountability to differentaudiences and felt responsibility. An in basketexercise with MBA s students in the USA and Colombiawas used for testing the hypothesis. A new scaleusing both cognitive and affective dimensions forfelt responsibility was proposed. Results weremixed. Further research must be conducted in apromising field in organizational behavior.
