Chemical analysis can be further complicated by matrix effects. Hence, quantitative predictions based on pure standards may be affected by differences in the sensitivity of the response of analyte in the presence and in the absence of chemical matrix of the sample. For accurate determinations this source of error on the signal of analyte should be considered. Standard addition can compensate non-spectral interferences and certain types of spectral interferences which enhance or depress the analytical signal of the analyte. Therefore, in chapter one, we decide to examine the applicability of standard addition method in the compensation of matrix effects on kinetic data sample. Hence, the kinetic profile for a reaction in an unknown matrix was resolved and the rate constants using the obtained kinetic profile were obtained. In chapters two, three and four, curve resolution procedure for isolating the spectra of unknown interferent(s) from the sample spectrum in order to determine analyte concentration and equilibrium constants based on the H-point standard additions method and H-point curve isolation method is discussed.
