Excerpt from Report of the President and Visitors of the Maryland Hospital: For the Insane, Baltimore, for 1864, to the General Assembly of Maryland The following resolutions were adopted: Resolved, That the Executive committee are authorized to memorialize the General Assembly of Maryland, in behalf of the President and Visitors, for an increase in the annual amount allowed for the support of insane paupers. Resolved, That the Executive committee be and they are hereby authorized to petition the General Assembly for an appropriation of twenty thousand dollars, for heating the Hospital with steam or hot water, and for other purposes; and for an appropriation of five thousand dollars for repairs and improvements of buildings and grounds. Resolved, That Messrs. Jones and Stirling be appointed to act with the Executive committee in prosecuting the application for aid before the General Assembly.
