This volume presents the Brazilian geographer Milton Santos as a Pioneer in Geography from Latin America. The first chapter offers a biography of the Brazilian geographer, never before offered in English. The second chapter is a translation of Santos's important text on territory. The next 10 chapters are written by scholars from Brazil, Spain and France who apply Milton Santos's concepts in their research. These brief texts of 3500-5000 words each document how powerful the theory and concepts created by Santos are and how they were used for key geographical themes, such as political economy, rural studies, territorial planning, environmental crisis, digital networks, indigenous peoples, transportation and public health. These texts discuss how Santos's theory and concepts may help us analyse and interpret key geographical questions.
