Anotace knihy

Description: Praise is a hidden doorway in the world that enables us to see things outside of the universe. But it's a doorway that is easily missed; people walk past it, thinking nothing of it, not realizing the value of it.  But God has placed it there for us to walk through and see where he lives. This look at praise takes some surprising turns and gives us insight into heaven, hell, the world we live in, and our own souls. People praise all sorts of things. I find myself praising my wife--or praising children, footballers, or chefs. I even praise my dog. When we praise God, it is a natural extension of what we normally do every day.  And praise isn't one way, because God praises us, too.   When we are patient, praise will come our way from the most unexpected source, and it will come just when our enemies have turned up to see it. God intervenes on our behalf when we leave the task of being praised to him. Contrary to popular belief, praise comes to those who wait. We don't have to fish for it. Endorsements: ""Fishing For Praise is not a standard Christian 'help' book and is instead an insightful look at the whole nature of praise both in secular and church life. Before I read his book, I flicked through the pages and was very relieved to find direction to the Scriptures everywhere, giving me plenty of confidence that reading this was going to bear some fruit in my life. From the first page, it's clear that Paul has an unusual style of writing, full of unsuspecting similes and metaphors. It has a 'fresh from the mind' feeling, which makes it a very interesting read. He skilfully explores the meaning of praise, its involvement in our society and lives, and ultimately how we should praise God. Paul's highly original work could be just what you need to start to live a praise-filled life."" --Crossrythms ""Best known for his music and with nine CDs to his credit, this is Paul Poulton's first book. It is written in simple, clear language and is littered with a whole range of illustrations aimed to link everyday life to our need and responsibility to praise God. Paul clearly has a 'heart' for the subject. . . . Anyone who has heard Paul's music will know that as well as being an excellent guitarist with a brilliant band that can really groove, his uniqueness comes from a gift for cleverly constructed, thought provoking lyrics that really hit the spot (if you haven't sampled Paul in action, I would definitely recommend a visit to www.paul.poulton.com). The book reflects this gift for the short, sharp message"". --Christian Bookshop Review About the Contributor(s): Paul Poulton is a singer/songwriter from England. He tours with his band in the United Kingdom and the United States, performing in churches and regular venues. He has released nine CDs. Poulton also writes for magazines and Web sites and preaches in churches across the denominational divide. (He was an elder in the Assemblies of God church he has attended since he was a child.) He has recently moved home and lives in the Midlands, England, and attends a small local fellowship of Christians. Poulton's Web site can be found at http://www.paulpoulton.com.
