To many, Von Manstein is regarded as the greatest commander of WWII, if not the 20th century: he devised the plan that conquered France in 1940, he was head of the panzer corps when they reached Leningrad in 1941, and took command of the 11th Army and conquered Sevastopol and the Crimea.
